NANCY HOWER: BIO

Writer/Director Nancy Hower has written and directed 60+ episodes of television, countless sizzle reels, and an award-winning movie.

Hower graduated as an actor from The Julliard School and moved to Los Angeles to play Yitzak in Hedwig And The Angry Inchopposite Tony Winner Michael Cerveris. There she landed a recurring role playing Ensign Wildman on UPN’s Star Trek,” and went on to guest star in various television shows and independent films.

During this time, Hower also founded a band called Wench, which opened for Tenacious D and opened as a solo act for Meatloaf on his European tour. Her song “Prozak Grandma,” is included on “The Curve” soundtrack; and “Fernando,” a song co-written with John Patrick Shanley, was sold to “An Alan Smithee Film.”

Hower's first feature “Memron” won Audience Awards at both Slamdance and the Taos Film Festival. She co-created the television series “10 Items Or Less” for Sony, which ran for three seasons on TBS with John Lehr. Hower served as executive producer, writer and director for all episodes on the half-hour comedy. John and Nancy created the comedy Western, "Quickdraw," which ran for two seasons on Hulu; as EP/co-creator. Nancy again directed all episodes.

Other Hower/Lehr collaborations include the comedies “Team McPhearson” (Fox), “Let It Ride” (Comedy Central), “Jailbait” (web series/Crackle Channel) “Life on Mars” (Sony/BBC) and “Retreat!” (NBC), among many others. Hower wrote and directed all episodes of those shows.

Hower's directing work includes the season finale of "Teachers" (TV Land), Insatiable (Netflix), and 2 episodes of "Tacoma FD" (truTV). She recently served as EP/Director for the pilot of Drama Club for Nickelodeon. She has just finished a block ot two new shows for Disney called Saturdays and Ultraviolet and Black Scorpion.

Hower hosts her podcast My Number One, (on Itunes and Stitcher). Her comedic memoir, The Girl Who Drank Her Own Pee, (based on the podcast) is coming soon.
