NANCY HOWER: BIO

Writer | Director | Executive Producer

Nancy Hower is an award winning writer, director, and executive producer with over 60 episodes of television to her name. Known for her innovative storytelling and comedic sensibility, she has directed hit series for networks including CBS, Netflix, Hulu, HBO, Comedy Central, and Disney.

Hower’s feature directorial debut, Memron, won the Audience Award at both Slamdance and the Taos Film Festival. She co-created and helmed the cult-favorite series 10 Items or Less (Sony/TBS) and Quickdraw (Hulu), pioneering a fresh, improvisational approach to comedy. Her diverse directing credits include Insatiable (Netflix), Tacoma FD (truTV), Teachers (TV Land), Ultraviolet & Black Scorpion (Disney), and numerous other projects across broadcast and streaming platforms.

In 2024, she directed Zoey 102 for Paramount+ and Nickelodeon Movies, which became the #1 worldwide streaming film in July. Most recently, she directed multiple episodes—including season premieres—of CBS hits So Help Me Todd and Elsbeth.

A Juilliard-trained performer, Hower began her career as an actor, starring as Yitzhak in Hedwig and the Angry Inch and playing Ensign Wildman on Star Trek: Voyager. She has also guest-starred in numerous television shows and independent films. Beyond film and television, she was the frontwoman of the band Wench, which opened for Tenacious D, and later toured Europe as a solo act opening for Meat Loaf.

Hower also explores the world of alternative healing with humor and curiosity through her podcast, My Number One, and her upcoming comedic memoir, The Girl Who Drank Her Own Pee.
