NANCY HOWER: BIO
Writer/Director/EP Nancy Hower has directed 60+ episodes of television. Her first feature “Memron” won Audience Awards for best feature at both Slamdance and the Taos Film Festival.
Hower graduated as an actor from The Julliard School and moved to Los Angeles to play Yitzak in “Hedwig And The Angry Inch”. There she landed a recurring role playing Ensign Wildman on UPN’s “Star Trek,” and went on to guest star in various television shows and independent films. Hower founded a band called Wench, which opened for Tenacious D and opened as a solo act for Meatloaf on his European tour.
She co-created the television series “10 Items Or Less” for Sony, which ran for three seasons on TBS. Hower served as executive producer, writer, and director for all episodes of the half-hour comedy. She then co-created, EP, wrote and directed the comedy Western, "Quickdraw," which ran for two seasons on Hulu.
Other shows Hower created and directed include the comedies “Team McPhearson” (Fox), “Let It Ride” (Comedy Central), “Jailbait” (web series/Crackle Channel) “Life on Mars” (Sony/BBC) and “Retreat!” (NBC), “The Loop” for HBO, among many others.
Hower's directing work includes the season finale of "Teachers" (TV Land), Insatiable (Netflix), and "Tacoma FD" (truTV), Ultraviolet and Black Scorpion (Disney). She recently served as EP/Directer for the pilot of Drama Club for Nickelodeon and has just finished the premiere of Saturdays (Disney).
Last year Nancy directed several episodes of So Help Me Todd for CBS including the season finale of season 1 and the premier for season 2. She also directed the movie Zoey 102 for Paramount Plus and Nickelodeon movies which was the number one streaming movie for the month of July. She recently directed episode 106 of Elsbeth for CBS: creators Michelle and Robert King.
Hower hosts her podcast My Number One, a comedic journey through the alternative healing world (on Itunes and Stitcher). Her comedic memoir, The Girl Who Drank Her Own Pee, (based on the podcast) is coming soon.
